KANES FIELD ALLOTMENTS IS NOW DIVIDED INTO TWO ALLOTMENT AREAS
THE ENTIRE AREA FROM THE GRAZING FIELD RIGHT UP TO THE ROUNDABOUT
MARKED IN GREEN BOUNDARY WAS
ALLOTMENT PLOTS DIVIDED ORIGINALLY INTO ONE ACRE PLOTS
The Allotments were brought by Hedge End
Parish Council with a loan from County Borough of Southampton of £1500 + £50 to
help with costs, The Allotments were purchased from Mrs Campbell of Thornhill Park
Charles Watts (Parish Cllr) is noted as 'seconding' the motion to apply for the loan to purchase the
allotment land. Thornhill estate was sold for housing development in
1923 and shortly after broken up into lots.
